30 ’til 30 [Day 4]

Okay, so we have hit a point were I would like to share some of the non-dancing things I have been working on or completed already. Why am I doing this? Why am I keeping you from watching me dance? Well to be honest, like I stated in my last post, I am not dancing all the time like I used to, and while it’s not where I saw myself, that doesn’t mean I am unhappy with where I am. Sure January 2021 does NOT look at all how I imagined it would is January 2020, but at the same time neither does the rest of the world.

So this one, is a project that is pretty near to my heart for many reasons. During the last six months, I have been tasked with opening a new event venue in East TN. Now, if you have gone to my ‘About’ page, you know very well that there is no mention of me ever opening any type of business, let alone an event venue. So it’s pretty clear that this is my first time ever doing something like this, but it was felt that I had enough creativity to accomplish something like this. When I tell you, I was scared out of my mind to try something like you, you might not actually believe me. I have always been a big advocate of ‘Fake it til you make it;’ however, when you are opening a business, you can’t fake it. Like there is literally nothing you can fake, you either sink or you swim. Turns out, I can swim, or at least tread water.

With a single picture and idea, I was able to create (with a lot of help from IT professionals) a logo, design an accent wall, decorate a couple seating areas and bathrooms, I even created the website from scratch. Now luckily, I didn’t have to go a find the space and come up with these million dollar renovation idea. Now don’t get me wrong, I most certainly could have found a way to spend a ton of money (that I don’t have), but all that stuff was pretty much worked out before I got on board.

So before I continue to drudge this to the point of no return, I’d like to remind everyone not to be too hard on yourselves. If where you thought you were going be in January 2021 looks a little bit different and you might be doing something that’s not necessarily in your field doesn’t mean you won’t get the opportunity to go back or that the skills you are learning and using now won’t help you in the future.

Okay, I swear I am done typing and off of my little soap box! Check out some of the content below and let’s continue to be creative!
