Pack (n): a group of things wrapped or tied together for easy handling or carrying; (v): to form into a group or compact mass.
With less than 24 hours until my arrival in Europe, I am 100% packed. I have tons of toiletries, my massive amount of hair products (GO TEAM NATURAL), & my regular clothes and dance gear all packed and ready to go. Normally, this is when people begin their excitement dances or nervous looks, I however am just as calm as nice summer night on the beach. Probably because I was at the beach for Labor Day and it was one of the most relaxing times I’ve had this year. I saw dolphins in their natural habitat. NO, I did not attempt to go out and swim with them. I am not crazy, but to be able to see them with my own two eyes was beautiful. I’m not sure I will ever be able to say that I saw dolphins swimming while doing yoga on the beach. And I say that, because I have so many mosquito bites from that morning. Can’t kill a mosquito when you’re holding yourself up in downward dog or in a head stand. Okay, sorry that was a vacation highlight side bar and I got a little carried away. But look at that view, it’s gorgeous!
HERE’S ANOTHER SIDE BAR: Do you know just how much stuff I have had to pack in the last month? I packed up my Atlanta apartment and put it all in storage, packed to go visit my father, unpack my clothing in my childhood home only to pack it up again for the move to London (so I can unpack it again). I AM TIRED! My arms feel like they have been doing nothing but packing and unpacking. I would say that I’m a professional packer, but there are people that get paid for that job and I haven’t been paying myself.
I cannot believe that all the planning, praying, and hard work has led me here so early in my life. Since high school it’s been my dream to dance abroad. When people asked me plans for the future, I told them I was going to dance abroad. Granted there was no plan of how I was going to do it, I just knew it was going to happen, and now here it is! I am able to further my education all while making my life dream come true (for those of you that don’t know, I love being a student because learning/ growing is what makes dance so special and limitless). I am honored to be sharing this experience with you all and blessed to have you cheering me on.
The journey starts now!
Way to go, Toi! What a blessing to be able to say your dream has come true. You’ve earned it, deserve it, and this is just the beginning. You got the juice.
Go get em, girl!
I am so proud to know you toi b brown! I am so encouraged by this and the passion we share for dance. I can’t wait to read your stories and I hope we can keep in contact (it’s been forever).
Praying for you girl.
